The 2018 Recommended Adhesives Guide – F. Ball and Co
F. Ball and Co. Ltd.’s Recommended Adhesives Guide (RAG) is the flooring industry’s most trusted guide to adhesives and floorcovering compatibility. It features 6,000 up-to-date adhesive recommendations for textile, resilient and wood floorcoverings, as well as flooring accessories, endorsed by around 200 leading international manufacturers. The RAG also includes details of the F. Ball guarantee that is applicable when using a recommended adhesive.
The RAG is available in digital and printed formats. An interactive version is available on the F. Ball website and as a free app via the Apple and Google app stores, enabling contractors to search the RAG even when out on site. Digital formats are updated continuously throughout the year, while the printed version is updated annually and published as an A5 size book.
Prior to being included in the RAG, adhesive recommendations for floorcoverings are exhaustively tested in F. Ball’s laboratory and dedicated testing facility. Tests include peel and shear tests to assess the bond strength of adhesives, castor chair tests to replicate years of wear and tear in an office setting and accelerated ageing in a climate-controlled environment to predict the performance of an adhesive with a specific floorcovering over the lifetime of an installation.
As the UK’s leading manufacturer of flooring adhesives and subfloor preparation products, F. Ball’s RAG is widely used by specialist flooring contractors to select the most appropriate adhesive for any given floorcovering.
Commenting on the important role that the RAG fulfills, F. Ball’s Marketing Manager, Richard Harris, explains: “Using the wrong flooring adhesive can often result in costly remedial work or can even result in total floor failure. The F. Ball RAG ensures contractors, architects and other specifiers are able to specify the most appropriate adhesive for each flooring installation. The RAG has become an invaluable reference tool for many people and we are confident that it leads to the successful selection and usage of flooring adhesives.”
